Discover Fall River Ma
For World War II historians come and visit
Battleship Cove in Fall River Ma. Come aboard
the Battleship Massachusetts, the Lionfish
submarine, the Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy Jr.,
and the Russian made Hiddensee.
Come and visit the Big Guns of Battleship Cove.
One cannot help but develop a deep respect for the
men who called these ships home.
From the mess hall to the tight sleeping quarters
with no privacy. The torpedo room offers hardly enough
room to turn around without banging your head.
This adventure most definitely put a new light to
watching the old war movies with my dad years ago.

While at Battleship Cove visit another
piece of history, the Carousel. The Carousel,
known to most from southeastern Ma. as the
main stay at the long closed Lincoln Park in
North Dartmouth, from as far back as I can
remember.
After the park's closing the carousel
was removed, refurbished and relocated to
Fall River's Heritage Park. Now enclosed on
the 2nd level of a beautiful building with
large glass windows overlooking the bay.
Across the street is located the Fall River
Old Colony Train Museum for the train buffs.
Fall River Carousel all refurbished from it's days
at Lincoln Park in North Dartmouth. Looking better
than ever.
Several blocks away is the home of the very
famous Lizzie Borden. Rumor has it Lizzie Killed
her father and step-mother with blows from an
axe. Though found not guilty, as the story goes
it's hard to believe once you take the tour and
hear the whole story. The Borden House is now
a Bed & Breakfast, stay if you dare. As told to
me by the owner, the house sports a few ghosts.
And by the way don't play with little board
in the corner, it also was told to me that a couple
checked in approx.9pm started playing with the
board and was out of there by 9:30pm. Do as
you will.

The Fall River Historical Society operates a museum
nearby at 451 Rock St. which also hosts a collection
of artifacts from the Lizzie Borden murder case. Photos
of Andrew and Abby's skulls cracked open, the handle-less
hatchet used to commit the crime, also police photos
of the murder scene and more.
You will also find artifacts from the Fall River Line, which
once ran elegant steamships from Fall River to New York City.
Also in the museum you will find hand blown Christmas
ornaments, English porcelain, vintage jewelry, victorian
figurines as well as a gallery of paintings
With this much to see and do in Fall River this could easily
become another day trip for you. Hope you find Fall River Ma as
interesting as I did.
