Cape Cod Museums





For those with a real sense for history, here are some of the many Cape Cod Museums. With some 80 different museums located on Cape Cod we will be adding more in on a regular basis so please check back often to see what's new.






Cape Cod Museum of Natural History





Located on 80 acres and abutted by 300 acres of town conservation land in Brewster.

Amission

Summer Hours June 1-Sept 30 Open 7 days 9:30am-4:00pm

With exhibits on Cape Cod's ever changing coastline, whales, coastal birds, fish, frogs, snakes, and turtles to name a few and with lectures, workshops, and it's own library their is a wealth of knowledge to be gained on this visit.

Come and visit the J.F.K. Museum and the Cape Cod Years,see why President Kennedy would retreat to his home in Hyannisport when he needed time to be alone to make important decisions.

Sandwich Glass Museum





Located at 129 Main St. Sandwich

Summer Hours Daily 9:00am-5:00pm

Admission Adult $5.00 6-14 $1.25

Watch a glass blowing demonstration as molten glass is blown and pressed.

The 20 minute demonstration takes place every 1/2 hour. Be sure to visit museum gift shop for reproduction art glass and a selection of books on Sandwich Glass.

With a full campus of museums be sure to visit the Swift Barn, Small Boat Museum, and the Bradley House.

Woods Hole Historical Musuem

Come and see the famous bedtime collection along with Peter Rabbit and Reddy Fox.

Thornton W. Burgess



Heritage Museums and Gardens





Located at 67 Grove St. in Sandwich their summer hours are daily 10:00am-5:000pm

Admission

Adults $12.00 Seniors $10.00 4-12 6.00 3-under Free

Famous for their rhododendrons that bloom into early June. With landscape and beautiful gardens, well worth the visit. Also to enjoy is the new American History Museum opening in the summer 2008.

Visit the J.K.Lilly III Auto Collection and the 100th anniversary of the Ford Model T.

Heritage Museums and Gardens



Cape Cod Maritime Museum





Located at 135 South St. Hyannis 508-775-1723 Adults $5.00 Students $4.00 Seniors $4.00 under 6 Free

Learn about the cape's maritime history and the Catboat Sarah Project. A museum built replica of the Crosby Catboat. Now used as a floating classroom and the official boat of Barnstable, it will be on tour during July and August 2008.

Located on Rt.6A in Dennis on the grounds of the Cape cod Center For The Arts in Dennis Village.

The museum of art offers courses in drawing, working with pastels,landscape painting, children's book illustrations, and pottery. Basic digital camera, water colors, and opera are also offered.

Cape Cod Baseball Hall Of Fame





Located on the lower level of the J.F.K. Museum in Hyannis.

This just has to be one of my personel favorites. To learn about the big stars of today's game when they were playing for local cape teams.

Whydah Pirate Museum




Whyda Pirate Museum



Without a doubt this one's on my Cape Cod Museums favorites list. Visit this museum to learn about Barry Clifford's discovery of the Whyda Pirate Ship

The Whydah Pirate Museum is locatedin Provincetown at the end of MacMillanWharf.

Open May 1 - Oct. 31 10:00 am - 5 pm till 8 pm June-July-August

Learn about the Whydah Pirate Ship,and Captain " Black Sam " Bellamy.

See the pieces of eight recoveredfrom the Whydah along with other artifacts.
