Just up the street from New Bedford is little country
town called Acushnet Ma. Well noted for their Apple and
Peach Festival every fall, which draws thousands of
visitors each year.
Also of special interest is the Long Plain Museum, you can get a quick peek in the museum by viewing the video near the bottom of this page.
Be sure to visit any one of several orchards along
Main St. as well as Flying Cloud for the best pies around
(better than homemade). Flying Cloud also sell farm fresh
vegetables during the season.
Directly across the street is Peter's Family Orchard
serving baskets of fresh picked apples and peaches at their
farmstand, or you may choose to pick your own. They also
offer hayrides for the kids.
Come autumn both of these farm stands will provide you
with a huge selection of pumpkins, corn stalks, and fall decor,
as well as baked goods and jams and jellies. Well worth taking
a slow easy drive to this little country town.
