About Me and Cape Cod

Yes I think I have an addiction to Cape Cod as you may be able to tell from my office.

Albert Lagesse

What About Me and Cape Cod you may ask, I'm really nobody special I just had a story to tell and needed to see if someone would listen. This website started from a passion I have for Cape Cod, only I didn't realize it until I moved to Florida. Read this entire page and you may find a little inspiration as I do from time to time just to keep me up and going.

Having grown up and lived in New Bedford, Ma. for well over 45 years, with Cape Cod only a short drive out the back door one would think I would have spent much more time on the Cape.

Until recently I didn't realize how much I missed New England and Cape Cod in spring, summer, and fall (mid winter not so much).

No I do not miss shoveling snow at 5:30am so I could get to work. I don't mind New England winters if all I have to do is look out at the pretty snow, put another log on the fire, have another cup of coffee, and go back to work on my website.

Having moved to central Florida in 2004, (thinking the grass was more green) may not have been the best move for us. I now think we should have stayed closer to Cape Cod and maybe try being snowbirds first, ( Florida in lets say Jan. & Feb.).

Well take a momment to watch this video by clicking the play button on the bottom left corner. This may help you understand more About Me and Cape Cod.

With not much happening on Cape Cod and New England far as natural disasters ( maybe a severe hurricane or blizzard every 10-15 yrs.).

Florida on the other hand seems to have a constant watch for hurricanes, tornadoes, and severe thunder storms and lightning strikes sparking up forest fires(always something).

Now they tell me this is the lightning capital of the country! What else I wonder, oh yes sink holes, one never knows when one's house is going to get swallowed up. For sure I could go to back to the Cape Cod area in a heartbeat and never complain again and live happily ever after.

Summer of 2008 found me headed back to New Bedford (still home to my off spring) as my son didn't want to come to Florida with his sister for summer vacation and chance losing his job. Upon arriving back in New Bedford, with son (17) & daughter (15) in tow, off to Cape Cod we went doing some exploring of our own.

From lighthouses to the Cape Cod National seashore, Chatham's busy village to Wood's Hole Oceanographic Institute, we took in as much as possible in our limited time.

From Provincetown's Pilgrim Monument, Whydah Pirate Museum, dune tours, and busy Main Street, on to Hyannis for a boat tour of the Kennedy's Compound, lunch at Spanky's Clam Shack, a visit to Cape Cod Potato Chips, Toad Hall Classic Car Museum, the JFK & Cape Cod Baseball League Museums ( same building ).

With Trolley Tours, Duckmobile Tours, Harbor and Whale Watch Cruises, Shopping and Fine Dining on Main Street there is no lack of activites here.

We even managed to squeeze in a Yarmouth-Dennis baseball game,(all games in the Cape Cod Baseball League are free but donations are gladly accepted).

Pieces of eight from the pirate ship Whydah. To view more artifacts found aboard the ship be sure to visit the Whydah Pirate Museum located on MacMillan Wharf in Provincetown.

Back in New Bedford I did visit the Whaling Museum, beaches, parks, the zoo and ate lots of seafood, sorry but I love New England seafood.

Another day trip took me to Fall River, Ma.(20 min. from New Bedford).Fall River is home to Battleship Cove, keeping the battleship Massachusetts, submarine Lionfish, PT Boat, and a Destroyer, all open to the public.

Also nearby (short walk) is Heritage Park overlooking the harbor. The semi famous carousel, known to most from southeastern Ma. from the long closed Lincoln Park in North Dartmouth Ma. The carousel was removed, refurbished, and relocated to Fall River upon the park's closing. Across the street is located the Fall River, Old Colony Train Museum.

Several blocks away is the Borden House, home of the ever famous Lizzie Borden. Rumor has it Lizzie killed her father and step-mother with blows from an axe.

Though found not guilty, as the story goes it's hard to believe once you take the tour and hear the whole story. The Borden House is now a Bed & Breakfest.

I find it amazing that I had to move 1400 miles away to relize all the good stuff that was in my back yard for 40 some years, and now I miss it all. I must be getting old and sentimental.

Maybe I had green grass on Cape Cod but just didn't see it, think I may try to move back to the Cape area soon, of course my wife will think I've lost my mind and try to get me commited.

At least all this has stirred me up enough to build this site to share with you. One thing I have learned, vacations are a great way to see other areas of the world but don't look away from what you have in your own back yard before you miss it all.

See it's not all About Me and Cape Cod, it's "About You" as well.

Hope everyone who visits (explores) Cape Cod enjoys it as much as we did. Please feel more than welcome to leave your comments about this site or your Cape Cod Vacation on our contact page and we will get them posted for the world to see.

Why would you build a website about something you feel this much passion about?

I find it helps bring relief to everyday stress, relieves your mind of all the aggrevation from day after day at a job you do not want to do any longer. Along with the fact that someday, if all goes well this may be my full time job, writing about something that means a great deal to me and sharing it with you. Then I could move back to the Cape Cod area, look out at the pretty snow, put another log on the fire, and make a fresh pot of coffee. Don't sound so bad does it?

You may be asking yourself how can this be done and how you could also do it.

The answer in two words Site Sell or SBI as it's known around here. Keep reading on to learn more.

The thought of working for myself on a web site I built myself from anywhere I choose to live gets me more than just a little excited!!

Not knowing a hole bunch about computers and no idea how to build a website I set out surfing the web for ideas, the first brainstorm I came across that seemed interesting cost me approx. $2800.00, my wife will never let me forget that one! I'm rather sure she would have prefered I leave this bright idea alone and go to work. But being as stubborn and thick headed as I am I kept on looking for that just right fit that could work for me. After surfing the web some more and looking at a bunch of junk and getting a little more keen on the "GET RICH QUICK" ideas I was very forturnate to happen across site build it.

Reading their case studies and watching Elad's video convinced me to try one more time, not to mention I'm tired of getting up at 5:00am to get to a job that will never do more than just buy food, gas and pay the basics, sound like you? Read on.

SBI seemed like it was created just for me, a beginner with little or no experence. I've now been with SBI approx 10 months and have no regrets. I don't understand all the steps the first time, so I re-read and re-watch the videos and bang! hey I GET IT! SBI is very doable for all us beginners with big dreams. They have a teaching method in place that beats all. I now have friends and family interested in starting their own SBI websites.

check back often to see how the progress is going. I will post an update as things move along.

Want to learn more About Me, Cape Cod, and about SBI? Easy just click on the link below and we'll take you there, watch a few of the videos of people who have already changed their lives.

learn more about SBI

Still a skeptic, SBI is having their annual convention in Orlando in mid Oct. 2008, I will be there with approx. 50 other SBIers for what I expect will be the learning experience of my lifetime. Then I can tell you more first hand. One of the best features with SBI is the forums, if you have a problem with something chances are so did someone before you, so finding the solution is pretty easy.

UPDATE

The Orlando conference was one terrific learning experience. I'm still trying to absorb it all, so many great people willing to answer your questions and help any way possible. Not to mention Ken Evoy himself on a conference call to the group. If your interested in building a website that will become your business do not pass up a chance to attend an SBI conference.

Let me stop rattling on about SBI just watch the short video and maybe you'll understand why it works.

If no updates appear for any extended period come visit because the wife figured I was crazy and put me away, far away!

So that is it for About Me and Cape Cod for now.

If you have the time and desire to want to change your life, to work from home, semi-retire, or even start as a hobby that will grow up to become your business then click the logo to find out more. Take the quick video tour and see what it's all about for yourself. No GET RICH QUICK Here just the facts on how to do it right and build your internet business.

To get a better understanding of SBI I suggest you click on their logo at the bottom of this page and watch this short video and listen very carefully to Ken Evoy as he explains it best.

Somewhere within the pages of SBI I read that it's all about owning your own life. This is about as big as it can get to motivate me to push on, how about you?

shelly the tortoise

This is Shelly, the SBI mascot. There is good reasoning behind the tortoise as a mascot, that because with SBI you do move at a tortoise pace. One little step at a time until your there. SBI folks much prefer the slower pace and building their business right from the begining.
